For more than an hour I had sat on a hill on an esker and watched a small group of caribou work their way across the tundra feeding. As they moved toward where I was I lowered my tripod to the ground to include the soft focused fall color vegetation in the foreground. As this caribou came just beyond focusing he looked at me with more a sense of wonder of what I was than fear of me as a human.
