Kay Shumway, Nature Photographer Magazine
Water Shadows, South Eastern Utah. © Kay ShumwayA camera was part of the retirement gift that I, Lewis Kay Shumway, received in 1997. I had long wanted to return to my teenage passion for photography and plunged in with full heart and soul.

What a joy it was to avoid long waits between the shot and the print when digital photography gave me instant feedback and control of the printing process.

My main focus is on the wild flowers and scenery of San Juan County, Utah. This country is as large as some states and includes vast deserts, deep canyons, and mountains with peaks over 11,000 feet.

The opportunity to photograph so much beautiful diversity coupled with photographing activities of grandchildren keeps my life so interesting that I often wish I did not have to take time out to eat or sleep.
